We need lots of winter moisturizer to soothe our dry skin from cracking and itching. But following a healthy regime can make winter care for dry skin much easier.

  • Everyone loves hot showers and baths in winter, but it’s not good for our skin. Try to take bath with lukewarm water which will not wash away essential oils from the skin.
  • One most important tip for dry skin care is to always apply moisturizer right after your bath, as damp skin helps to seal the moisture into the skin. Keep a bottle of winter moisturizer near your bathing area and use liberally every time you take bath or wash your face and hands.
  • For dry skin care choose an oil-based rather than a water-based solution, as it helps your skin retain moisture in winter.

  • We love hot drinks like coffee and tea in winter and drink less water. But our skin needs hydration from inside so keep drinking warm water to look fresh all day. Even eating watery fruits and vegetables like carrots, tomatoes, kiwis, and oranges hydrate skin inside out.

Milk cream or malai is most commonly used in India as winter moisturizer in India, as the lactic acid present in milk cream exfoliate dry skin. Add milk cream to four tablespoon of gram flour or besan to make a thick paste. Apply the paste on your face, hands and legs. Rinse it with lukewarm water after 15 minutes.
