Let's Football with Alen

By Deepti Chanda

14 September, 2016

He started his journey of football from the tender age of six and today is the youngest player in the entire ISL team. Alen Deory needs no introduction and undoubtedly exhibits amazing speed, has powerful shots and heading ability. Deory got his first name from Alan Shearer; the former England striker who was his father’s favourite footballer was formally trained at IMG Academy in United States. He represented India at the under-13 and under-14 levels. Let’s get in touch with the young player…

Deepti: Hello Alen, it’s a pleasure to have you with us. Alen, what actually inspired you to play football and how do you feel about what you have achieved through football?   Alen: Thank you so much. My father used to be an auto rickshaw driver; we did not have fortunes to go for expensive games and sports. Unlike today’s kids, we used to play outdoor, cricket and football without proper balls. I used to bring roback tenga for which I used to climb trees, run and hence it helped me to develop the skills gradually.   Deepti: You represent Northeast United FC, which is owned by John Abraham, do you think John’s involvement would help in anyway?   Alen: A team is known by its players. I am always thankful to John for believing in us and he motivates us a lot. When we have such a big star with us, we do not need to matter much about investments.   alen-deory-of-northeast-united-fc-and-baljit-sahni-Neufc-Fans   Deepti: What after ISL?   Alen: After the ISL, I will be playing in the Federation Cup and the I-League. I already signed for Shillong Lajong for four years. If I get a chance to give a trial out of India, I will be ready for that.   Deepti: Are you happy with the ground conditions and team management in Northeast?   Alen: There is no other big thing then playing for your own region, hopefully someday I would play for my nation. Team management has always been by my side, doesn't matter I am playing or not. The infrastructure is best available after the national games.   Deepti: Your inspiration and Idols in life.   Alen: My parents and all my well wishers with special reference to Pele sir, Maradona sir and Messi sir. I love Cristiana Ronaldo for his style of playing, he inspires me a lot.   Deepti: Alen let’s get a bit personal, who is the love of your life? Any other interest except football?   Alen (Smiles): My love…My boots! I love watching movies and listening to music.   Deepti: Do you have any treasured dream?   Alen: I would love to be someone’s inspiration and have a biography. I always dream about myself with my boots on at any playground, setting the winning streak.   Deepti: Thanks for sparing so much time with us. Alen, any message for the youths and our readers.   ALEN-Always dare to be the best in life and love others to being loved.   I am still in an immature position to advice but would definitely convey my highest regards to all for showering so much of love and care.
